Sunday January 24, 2010 marks a special day. It was the first meet of the year, held in Alderwood in a 25 yard pool. Not only that - but there was a special Sign-up Competition going on between the Gator Gals and Guys. The winner is the group who has most participants at that meet and would get the privilege of designing next Sunday's warm-up work-out.
Congratulation to the Guys - who won by a smidgen.
Gators Guys Swimmer: Ralph,Terry, Wayne, Len, Seth, Todd, Kosta, Peter.
Gator Gals Swimmer: Heather, Susan P, Martina.
Thank you all swimmers for supporting NYG, collecting team points and being there for your peers.
The whole group was supported by Coach Stephen who not only had praises and advise for all swimmers but also fought for one who was at first not allowed to swim due to a mix up with the MSO membership.
Thank you Coach Stephen for being there for the swimmers, giving tips and making uplifting comments.
The meet was fantastic. It was efficiently run and the Alderwood Teddy bears were very hospitable.
Thank you Alderwood for putting on a great meet.
Highlights of the meet:
The men 4X100 free relay broke the Ontario Record.
The ten Gators earned a lot of ribbons and points for the club.
One Gator set an Ontario Record in 200 y free.
In 50 y breast the men took first, second and third places.
Even though it is so early in the season and we did not taper for this meet - there were many personal best.
The camaraderie is second to none - everyone had good words for everyone.
Two new NYG member's swam their first meet with us - and placed.
Some Gators swam events they have not swam before and did extremely well.
The men 4X50 free relay held on to their record from the previous year.
Inspiring team meeting after the meet.
In all - a very happy and successful swim meet! We were glad we went and hope to take other Gators along to Burlington February 7th.

Dear Pool Superstar,
We are reaching out to you again, to help us with Round 3 of the Aviva Community Fund competition. This is a legitimate and easy way to compete for corporate dollars, but we can only do it with your help. Yesterday, the first day of Round 3, we received 140 votes. This kind of attitude is not nearly enough to continue competing… We must step it up a notch or two or three, and take action!

General Information
- We are a self operating club.
- Our goals are fitness fun and friendship with a healthy mix of competition for those interested in taking part in swim meets.
- We are affiliated with Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO).
- Our swim season runs from mid-September through to the end of August with breaks over Christmas and the March school break
While we encourage new members to join our club provided space is availabe, we also need to ensure that new members can be accommodated within a lane of swimmers with similar skill & speed abilities. New members are asked to review the minimum new swimmer requirements (on this website) before coming to a practice.
Members must be 18+ years of age. The club is not designed as a learn-to-swim program. Swimmers need to be able to swim a minimum of 200 yards/meters without stopping and be able to complete a 50 meter swim in less than 90 seconds. Average practice distance is between 2500 - 3500 metres. We have a mix of members including those who are competitively focused and general fitness, along with a number of multi-sport athletes.
In addition to the regular workouts (with excellent on-deck coaching), we offer many club social events including an annual wine & cheese party, ski day, golf days, cycling trip / Island Picnic and our annual Gator Pentathlon Swim Meet. For those interested in competition, there are regularly scheduled meets throughout the GTA & Southern Ontario.
