Gators Training Schedule June, July, August

Hello Gators!

We have about 12 weeks left on our season!

First of all, I wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be voting for the Most Valuable Swimmer of the year over the next week. The award will be presented at the AGM on June 12th. For people who swim on Sunday you’ll have to do it this Sunday. On a piece of paper you can write down your name and the person you are voting for. Written as: Guillermo Voting for: Juan. That way we can keep track of who has voted already. And give it to Ryan.

On another note, I was planning the next few months of practice. I wanted to take advantage of the halt in competition to do two things. First: Revisit all the basics for all the strokes. Second: Give people a chance to swim a time trial once every 3 weeks, to gain racing experience, and to keep improving our racing skills.

Below you can see the training plan. Each cycle is divided in three weeks. The first week will be technique driven. During this week we’ll be training together for about 30-40 minutes, really slowing it down and working on technique. And the rest of the practice we’ll do a few sets as usual.

Week 2 is for training, use the skills we learn in long sets at lower speeds but longer distances.

Week 3 is for racing! Use the skills at racing pace. Shorter but faster distances.  The last Sunday of week 3 we’ll have a time trial for those who wish to participate at Douglas snow. The distances can be determined on the weeks leading up to the time trial.
